It is directed in our Archdiocese that our people keep Ash Wednesday and Good Friday as Days of Fast for those 18-59 years of age.
Days of Fast means only one full meal; the other two meals should be sufficient to maintain strength but not equal to a full meal. Eating between meals breaks the fast but drinking liquids does not.
Fridays of Lent and Ash Wednesday are Days of Abstinence (which means no meat is to be eaten on those days) for those 14 years of age and older in remembrance of that Friday wherein Jesus died for us.
