The Loving Life committee organizes events and/or drives to help Birthright, Hospice and other area organizations that promote the value and sanctity of life from natural conception to natural death.
The following is an example of the types of events/drives/activities that Loving Live has been involved with:
Blanket Drive for Hospice – We collected over 50 new or newly made twin-size blankets or throws, which were donated to the Farmington Valley Hospice. Hospice workers brought the blankets to patient’s homes or hospital beds where they were warmly received. Patients in a Hospice situation often can not enjoy much other than the touch of a soft blanket or its warmth or its color. The family gets to keep the blanket after their loved one has passed on as a way to help in the grief and healing process.
Birthright Mothers Day Chocolate and Rose Sale – Held every Mothers Day, volunteers offer for sale beautiful silk roses and Munson’s Chocolates after each Mass. Proceeds support Birthright, an organization that provides practical support for women-in-crisis pregnancies.
Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat – Loving Live has coordinated support for participants in the Retreat weekends by holding a card signing drive to show our support through offering our prayers for them. The parish also donated money to help support a scholarship to the Retreat. Rachel’s Vineyard Retreats provide healing after abortions or miscarriages. The Retreats are open to both women and their spouses/partners, their friends and family who have been affected by abortion and even to medical professionals who have been involved in the abortion industry.
How Can You Help? Consider joining St. Bernard’s Loving Life Committee. We need lots of help with planning events and coordinating activities. You can do as little or as much as you want. If you would like more information about this wonderful Committee, please contact stblovinglife@yahoo.com.
