The Saint Bernard’s parish family sponsors the following programs that extend our reach into the Greater Hartford community—and beyond.
House of Bread
The House of Bread receives sandwiches and desserts from St. Bernard’s twice every month. The sandwiches are made up by parishioners in the church hall, while others bake cookies, brownies, cupcakes or other sweets to be delivered with the sandwiches.
When: the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m.
Where: Make sandwiches in the church hall. Drop off sweets on the rectory side porch or the church hall before 9:30 a.m.
Bottles and Cans
KEEP BRINGING BOTTLES AND CANS!!! Our volunteers redeem them all and use the funds in our social action programs, including providing cleft palate surgery in third-world countries.
When: Continuous (at your convenience)
Where: Drop your redeemable bottles and cans in the collection bin by the barn in the church parking lot.
Foodshare
Foodshare coordinates the delivery of foodstuffs to thousands of needy people through hundreds of food pantries and other outlets throughout the greater Hartford area. St. Bernard’s supports this effort with the weekly collection of nonperishable food, which is then transported to Foodshare.
When: Every weekend as you come to Mass.
Where: Drop off your nonperishable foodstuffs at the rear of the church.
ALL OF THESE ACTIVITIES DESERVE YOUR ATTENTION. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE’S LIFE.
