Faith Formation

St. Bernard's encourages our parishoners to take advantage of our retreat opportunities each year.  Our annual Men's Retreat is held in January at Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford. Our annual Women's Retreat is also held at Holy Family and the month varies from year to year.

High School Youth Retreats and Leadership Training

Our high school age youth are offered a retreat weekend at either Trinita Retreat Center in New Hartford or at the Steubenville East Youth Conference held in July each year. The LEAD program, an outreach of Franciscan University of Steubenville, is a five-day training opportunity that precedes the Steubenville East High School Conference each year. We selectively invite one or more of our young people whom we judge are mature enough for this worthy program. Those who attend receive faith formation, are taught how to pray, and learn how to give witness to of their faith to others as part of evangelization. Annually, we offer two high school students the chance to experience a weekend leadership retreat at the Holy Family Passionist Retreat House. This includes growth in personal faith, community building, and leadership training.

Twenty Six Years and Counting

St. Bernard's introduced the Steubenville Youth Conference to the Farmington Valley in 1990.  The liturgies, music and speakers are truly inspirational.  The group of high school students and chaperones which attend each year are drawn deeper into their faith and always experience a bonding and feeling of closeness and acceptance.
