Faith Formation

Our Confirmation program is a complete  two-year program for 9th and 10th graders that is led by experienced instructional staff with classes held in parishioners’ homes.

Why is it a two-year program? Young people, at this age, are growing both socially and spiritually and a two-year program uses this growth to ensure they enter adulthood with a sound spiritual base at a time when they are challenged by the secular culture. In addition to individual classes, several group classes are held each year utilizing speakers on topics such as chastity, pro-life, the occult, and vocations.
A retreat is required each year, with a choice of two different styles, both of which are meaningful and fun. All Confirmandi are expected to complete at least 16 service hours before being confirmed.  There is also a mentoring program in the months just before receiving Confirmation.
Throughout our entire religious education program, our main goal is to connect young persons knowledge of God with his/her heart to start a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and use well their Catholic Sacraments and worship to strengthen their faith life. The Confirmation Program provides Spiritual growth for our youth who are striving to become full participating members of our faith.
Volunteers are welcome and encouraged.

PRAISE began in 1994 through the inspiration and spirit of the Steubenville High School Conference, giving high schoolers the opportunity to participate in the music ministry at regular Sunday Mass.  PRAISE practices on Sunday mornings 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's and does the music ministry at the 10:45 a.m. Mass on the 3rd Sunday from September to June.
