A Biblical Walk Through the Mass

Would you like to learn more about the biblical roots behind the words and gestures we take for granted at Mass?

The Bible Study group is beginning our next study titled A Biblical Walk Through the Mass, which takes us on a unique six week tour of the Liturgy.

Participating in this study is the perfect way to learn about the Mass in the context of the new translation coming this Advent.

Sessions will be Thursday evenings in the church hall on October 27; November 3, 10 and 17; and December 1 and 8 from 7:30-9:00 PM.

To register please contact Michael Martocci at 860-658-1369 or Maureen Kennedy at 860-604-5130.  We look forward to hearing from you.

CCD Registration for 2011-2012

An email has been sent to all families with the Registration Form and CCD Calendar for the 2011-2012 school year.  Please submit your registration by August 15, 2011 so an accurate book order can be made.

There has been a modest fee change. For the past five years St. Bernard’s Church has paid over four dollars for every one dollar of registration fee taken into the program. To help alleviate this loss and to bring St. Bernard’s fees more in line with the other area churches, this fee change was found necessary. It is important to know that no one will be sent away from CCD classes if they cannot pay the registration fee.  Please contact Father Ed if you need assistance.

CCD classes will begin this year on September 11, 2011.  Please consider using your time and talents with the CCD program. We are always in need of teachers and assistant teachers, substitute teachers and crossing guards.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lori Ryan at 860-658-4940.

Our education in faith is a lifelong journey.  Stay tuned for an adult faith formation opportunity we are planning for CCD parents this year.

Getting Out of the Boat

Saint Bernard’s Bible Study group has selected ‘If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get Out of the Boat‘ by John Ortberg for our summer reading enjoyment.

This inspiring book invites you to reflect on how Christ may be calling you in some way to take a step of faith toward him.

We’ll be starting our next Bible study in the fall.  We encourage you to step out of the boat and join us.  See Jeff Ryan, Mike Martocci, Maureen Kennedy or call Sue at the rectory if you are interested in joining us.
